I had the honour of training in Tsuboki® with Anne Parry who developed the system. It involves applying traditional Japanese massage techniques (Anma) to the neck and face and acupressure techniques which concentrate on specific points, or tsubo's, on the face. Although the treatment is done above the shoulder line, it has the effect of giving the client a "full body" treatment because we work on the meridians which run right through the body, passing through important glands and organs, releasing blocked energy (Ki). With regular treatment, the techniques used in this holistic face massage can leave your skin looking toned and healthy as well as giving you the time out you need to reduce those stress levels. I may suggest using aromatherapy to complement this treatment but there will be no extra charge for the use of essential oils. Contraindications As with all treatments, there are occasions when Tsuboki Japanese Face Massage may be unsuitable. It is very important to inform your therapist prior to treatment if you have any of the following; Recent Neck or Head injury Severe bruising in the treatment area Scalp or skin infections Epilepsy High or Low Blood Pressure Pregnancy Cap or bridge on the teeth. Sinus pain or infection. Please note that these are just some of the conditions that could contraindicate this particular treatment. All medical conditions should be disclosed at your consultation.
