Dharma Holistic Therapies & Crafts will be reopening on 12th April 2021. All appointments on reopening will be reserved for existing clients and people who have gift vouchers to use that were issued in 2020 or earlier. I will review taking on new clients when restrictions allow time for face to face consultations once more. All clients must read and confirm that they have read the information on the COVID-19 page of the website before they can book an appointment.
Reflexology
Restful and Balancing. Reflexology works on both a physical and emotional level,
Reflexology is a therapy system carried out on the feet or hands but treats the body as a whole. To a reflexologist, the feet and hands form a map of the body capable of indicating imbalances in physical and emotional health, allowing specific areas to be stimulated to encourage the system to rebalance. The treatment involves a method of massage and pressure application to reflex points which correspond to organs and glands within the body, encouraging them to work more efficiently and restore balance within the system. Reflexology also sends the client into a state of deep relaxation; relaxing muscles and increasing blood flow, slowing heart rate and lowering blood pressure. When this is achieved, the body can move in to a state where balance and homoeostasis can begin. Reflexology is an excellent treatment for the maintenance of well being and for easing the symptoms of stress.
A little note....... Reflexology should not be used as a diagnostic tool. As a reflexologist, I can help you discover areas of imbalance or stress within the body (physical and emotional) but I will never tell you that you have a problem in an area. If you need a diagnosis - please visit your GP.
Contraindications As with all treatments, there are occasions when Reflexology may be unsuitable. It is very important to inform your therapist prior to treatment if you have any of the following;
Fungal Infections, Warts or Verrucas Arthritis to the feet Pregnancy Any cuts, bruises, swelling or varicose veins to the legs, ankles or feet Recent surgery or medical procedures High or low blood pressure Osteoporosis Please note that these are just some of the conditions that could contraindicate this particular treatment. All medical conditions should be disclosed at your consultation.
