Ah! Indian Head Massage! This was the first therapy I qualified in and is still probably my favourite therapy to give. It is a very gentle and soothing treatment that completely relaxes the mind, body and spirit. It effectively soothes the nerve endings bringing about a deep sense of calm while also relieving stress, easing muscular tension and improving scalp health. I normally use an organic coconut oil for Indian Head Massage but this can be swapped for another oil more suited to your needs if you wish. The use of an oil really enhances the treatment, penetrating the skin and the hair follicles and really giving a deep nourishing treatment, but if you would rather that oil wasn't used at all then that is fine too. For this treatment you will be in a seated position and will remain fully clothed. However, if you find sitting for any length of time uncomfortable due to back problems, it can easily be adapted to suit. Gentle massage is given to the shoulders, arms, neck, scalp and face followed by a balancing of the three highest chakras.
Contraindications As with all treatments, there are occasions when Indian Massage may be unsuitable. It is very important to inform your therapist prior to treatment if you have any of the following; Recent Neck or Head injury Severe bruising in the treatment area Scalp infections Epilepsy High or Low Blood Pressure
Please note that these are just some of the conditions that could contraindicate this particular treatment. All medical conditions should be disclosed at your consultation.
