Before your appointment.... Please read this page carefully. You will need to confirm that you have read and understood the new conditions/safety measures that are in place before you can book an appointment.
Dharma Holistic Therapies is due to reopen on 12th April but there are measures in place to keep everyone safe when they visit. All clients are required to read the COVID-19 safety measures before an appointment can be booked. These are updated when needed so may change from time to time. Please reread them when asked to do so.
You will be contacted 24 hours before EVERY appointment by text message to check that you are fit and well enough to receive treatment with a few questions relating to COVID-19. I will fill out a form on your behalf before you arrive based on the answers you give, so you will need to check and sign it when you arrive. Please bring your own pen with you. If you have needed hospital treatment due to COVID-19 at any point since the pandemic began, you must obtain consent from your GP before I can offer you a treatment. If there is any doubt at all regarding your health, your treatment will be deferred. THERE IS NO GREY AREA. Even if you just feel under the weather/below par or if you feel even slightly that you may be coming down with something, regardless of what that something is, you must cancel your appointment. Please be aware that while the most common symptoms of COVID-19 are a new, persistent cough, tiredness, loss of taste or smell and fever, less common symptoms include aches and pains, sore throat, diarrhoea, conjunctivitis, headache, skin rash or discolouration of fingers and/or toes.
I will cancel your appointment immediately, should I, or a member of my household feel unwell.
Clients from areas with travel restrictions in place are strongly advised not to book an appointment. Those in areas that are put into a lockdown will need to cancel any appointments they have booked.
I will not be taking any bookings from new clients at this time. However, those who have gift vouchers dated 2020 or earlier, can now contact me. Please CALL 07915924958 to book a telephone consultation.
Your temperature will be taken and you will be required to sanitise your hands on arrival. I will also take my own temperature every morning before starting work and engage in frequent handwashing before, during and after your treatment.
You must not come for a treatment within 48 hours of having either of your COVID-19 vaccinations.
You must not come for a treatment if you are waiting for the results of a COVID-19 test.
Appointments will be limited for some time as I have had to reduce the number of clients I see to allow for ventilation and increased hygiene measures between each treatment. This means the usual flexibility you have come to expect from me will, unfortunately, not be possible right now.
You must be able to arrive for our appointment alone. Due to limited space in the therapy room, I cannot accommodate chaperones safely at this time. If you need a chaperone for your treatment, I will happily help you find another therapist who can accommodate you both.
You can no longer book appointments on behalf of other people. I must have contact with each client directly before they book. The communication required prior to treatment is now part of the consultation process and is therefore confidential.
If you are classed as clinically extremely vulnerable (you received a letter from your healthcare team that told you that you must shield yourself for a given period of time), please contact me by telephone so that we can discuss your individual circumstance in detail and I can complete an individual risk assessment.
You must inform me if you have returned from overseas travel, or if anyone in your household has returned from overseas travel, in the 14 days before your appointment.
There is an official NHS QR poster on display in the treatment room. You may check in with this using the NHS COVID-19 App when you arrive for your appointment, if you wish. Regardless of whether you choose to check in using the App or not, your contact details and the time of your arrival and departure are recorded and will be given to NHS Test and Trace if requested. Sharing your details in this way does not go against laws surrounding Data Protection. Please note that although these details are only required to be held for 21 days for the purpose of NHS Test and Trace, it is an industry requirement for all client records to be kept for 10 years and this will not change. Your records are kept securely and comply with Data Protection legislation.
The maximum amount of time now allowed in the treatment room with one client is 60 minutes. This is the TOTAL amount of time and includes follow up, signing forms, payment etc. If you need to update me on your well being or any health conditions, please do this the day before your appointment to avoid your hands on treatment time being shortened. The cost of a treatment remains the same.

The client bathroom will be open and will be cleaned frequently throughout the day. To avoid waste, I will not be using disposable paper towels in the bathroom. Each client has a fresh hand towel to use for hand drying purposes. Hand sanitiser is available for you to use in the bathroom along with soap and warm water. Information on handwashing is on display in the bathroom.
Tissues are available for you to use in the therapy room. Please use them to cover your nose and mouth if you need to cough or sneeze. Tissues should be disposed of in the non touch waste bin provided.
All visitors must make an appointment before arriving. Clients are not permitted to book appointments or make enquiries at the house. Anyone wishing to pick up vouchers or other purchases must make an appointment to do so or arrange to have it delivered.
While there is no change to the cost of a treatment at present, I have made some changes to my discount schemes. 10% discount is applied to all clients who work for the NHS when their treatment is 60 minutes in length (or longer when applicable). Other workplace discounts remain at 10% but only for treatments of 60 minutes (or longer). Discounts can no longer be claimed on 45 minute treatments or gift vouchers for other people.
It will not be possible to mix and match your treatments as some of you usually do. Each appointment will be for one type of treatment only. I have reviewed my working practices to minimise the duration of contact with the client so far as is reasonably practicable and we must keep the amount of time we spend in the treatment room to a minimum. Once you have signed your consultation, you will be left to change for treatment.
A full hygiene checklist is worked through before every single appointment. The room is ventilated and every surface and touch point you may encounter is disinfected/sanitised before you arrive. These measures are in place to keep myself as well as my clients safe. If you are arriving before/after a member of your own household/support bubble for treatment, these hygiene measures still need to be completed.
You should arrive for your appointment at the set time as usual. However, you must now wait in your car, or outside the boundary if on foot, until you receive a text message to say that you can come in for your appointment. This eliminates the risk of you arriving as another client is leaving. Please do not be late for your appointment. My working days are no longer as flexible as they were before and I have limited time between clients.
Social distancing rules apply until the treatment begins (2m, or 1m apart with risk mitigation at present). I have to reduce the risk of cross infection in so far as is reasonably practicable at every point of your visit, even though social distancing cannot be maintained during the treatment itself. Please respect this.
Personal hygiene. Clients must arrive for their appointment, freshly showered and in clean clothes. I appreciate that some of you do usually come straight from work and that this may pose an issue. I do however ask that any of you who work in environments where there is a higher risk of cross infection due to the volume of people you may come into contact with or the type of work you do (those who work in schools, healthcare settings, zoo, shops, supermarkets, hair & beauty and other close contact services etc) to please follow this advice. Other clients should wear clean clothes to their appointment as a minimum precaution but please also shower beforehand if you are able to do so. You must not come for treatment in the clothes you have been wearing for the entire day if you have been in contact with the general public. My own work wear is changed throughout the course of the day.
You will be required to sanitise your hands when you arrive, before you leave and at given intervals during your time with me. This will be explained at your appointment. Sanitiser will be provided for you to use.
It will be necessary for me to keep the treatment room window open as the weather gets warmer to allow for increased ventilation. If you feel that an increase in external noise will disturb your treatment, please defer your appointment to another time.
Clients must bring their own bottle of water. Water will not be available for you in the therapy room as usual. Please consider the environment and bring a reusable bottle if possible.
Please only bring with you what you need e.g. bank card, phone, keys. Oversized/extra bags (shopping etc) will not be permitted in the therapy room.
Phones MUST be switched off prior to treatment. If your phone rings during a treatment, it will not be handed to you for you to turn it off. You will not be permitted to take or make phone calls in the therapy room to eliminate the need to raise your voice.
Payment must be made by card or BACS only. Cash will not be accepted at this time.
Face Coverings. It is mandatory that you wear a face covering when you come for a treatment, unless you are exempt from doing so. You must inform me in plenty of time if you are exempt from wearing a face covering or if you rely on lip reading, facial expressions and clear sound to communicate, so that I can complete an individual risk assessment for you. Please make sure that should you need to remove your face covering for the purpose of identification or to have a drink of water that you do so using the ear loops and avoid touching the face covering itself. I will be wearing a face visor and mask during your treatment. Please consider the environment when purchasing your face covering.
Any client refusing to follow the rules in place will be denied treatment. A recent negative COVID-19 test or having received the vaccine (either one or two doses) does not exempt a client from these conditions.
And finally! For added peace of mind, I am qualified in Infection Control (specific to COVID-19) and have completed a semi-quantified risk assessment on my practice. This risk assessment is reviewed regularly. The safety of you, my family and myself is my absolute top priority which is why I have engaged in this further study. Any decisions made are based on up to date information available from the World Health Organisation, my professional body (FHT) and the most current Government guidelines. All of which are being regularly reviewed.
If you have been to visit me before or have a gift voucher to use, you can now contact me if you would like to make an appointment. Please state that you have read and understood these guidelines and confirm that you have NOT HAD a Covid-19 diagnosis at any point. Thanks for reading, I'm looking forward to treating you! Helen
